Evgenia Konstantakopoulou, MCOptom, MSc, PhD, FHEA, DipTp(IP), Dilp Glauc
Evgenia Konstantakopoulou is an academic and research Optometrist, specialising in glaucoma. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Optometry at the University of West Attica, Greece, an Honorary Associate Professor at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and a Research Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Evgenia’s research focuses on the delivery of glaucoma care in primary and secondary settings; a significant part of her research includes the utilisation of Optometrists for the delivery of glaucoma care, having published on the value and safety of Optometrists delivering SLT in the UK. She has been a core member of the LiGHT trial team for more than a decade and is now splitting her time between the UK and Athens Greece, where she is investigating glaucoma epidemiology and care provision. She has previously been part of the Centre for Public Health Research at City University of London, having worked on the effectiveness of community glaucoma filtering schemes.
Evgenia is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical and research teaching in Greece and the UK, promoting evidence based clinical practice. In 2021 she was awarded the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and in 2023 the Teaching Excellence Award for her teaching at the Institute of Ophthalmology, UCL.
