Periklis Papavasileiou is Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences (Division of Radiology and Radiotherapy), University of West Attica. He graduated as Radiology and Radiotherapy Technologist from the Technological Institute of Athens. He has an Msc in Medical Imaging (University of Aberdeen) and a PhD in Medical Imaging & Physics (Institute of Cancer Research, University of London).
He has worked as Radiology and Radiotherapy Technologist in Radiotherapy and Maxillofacial Radiology departments, focusing on QA and QC procedures. He has also been working on Medical Imaging software development (image registration).
He is member of the steering committee of the MSc program “Current Applications in Medical Imaging” offered by the department of Biomedical Sciences. His research interests cover the development of image analysis tools (based on machine learning and deep-learning), cone-beam computed tomography in radiotherapy and maxillofacial radiology, quality assurance in tomosynthesis.
