Opportunity to study in Melbourne, Australia – THE PAPPAS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIPS

Melbourne in Australia is the largest Greek community outside Greece.

Victoria University in Melbourne, is ranked in the top 2% of all Universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education Rankings.

Professor Vaso Apostolopoulou is a leading researcher globally in immunology and has keen interests in a vast number of disorders and health issues, including cancer, autoimmune disorders, mental health, drug addiction, exercise research and natural products research.

There is an opportunity for 2 recipients (one Masters student and one PhD student) from Greece to receive the THE PAPPAS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIPS and be enrolled at Victoria University to undertake their postgraduate research degree at one of the world’s top Universities.

You will have the following covered:

  1. MSc living stipend (scholarship) paid for 2 years
  2. PhD living stipend (scholarship) paid for 3.5 years
  3. Both MSc and PhD students will have their international student fees waived
  4. Victoria University will cover the health insurance 
  5. You will attend one conference during your time of studies
  6. All consumables to conduct experiments will be covered by Victoria University
  7. You must be enrolled at Victoria University, Melbourne Australia
  8. You must be identified and enrolled in 2019 or by February 2020

Research project areas that you can undertake:

  1. Cancer vaccine development
  2. Cancer micro-environment and biomarkers
  3. Immune modulation for autoimmunity in the areas of – MS, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, type-1 diabetes
  4. Effects of exercise on the immune system
  5. Effects of polarised light in chronic conditions
  6. Overcoming drug addiction
  7. Mental health research
  8. Inflammatory bowel disease research
  9. Effects of probiotics to health and disease
  10. Plant extracts and natural plant based products and their effects on immune cells, cancer cells, inflammation, mental health, diabetes. 
  11. Rationally design, synthesize and evaluate diagnostics and theranostics for the aforementioned diseases.  

Mr George Pappas, the Chancellor of Victoria University through his and his family’s generous philanthropic gift to support Professor Vaso Apostolopoulou’s research has made the THE PAPPAS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIPS possible. Mr George Pappas, who was born in Rhodes, Greece, wishes to give the opportunity for students from Greece to undertake their MSc and PhD in Australia.
